What is Drophouse?

Drophouse is not an architectural firm.  We are a highly detailed, craft-driven firm with in-house fabrication for residential, commercial, and art projects all over the U.S.  We work closely with architects, contractors, and owners to build special, custom projects.

Why Drophouse?

We consider ourselves “architect adjacent.”  Our office is completely comprised of architectural school graduates, former/future architectural firm employees, and licensed architects who desire to work outside of the typical professional architecture pathway.  With in-house fabrication, our design team gets to collaborate with a talented crew of craftspeople to not only deliver special projects but also learn and gain insight from the building process tangibly.  We believe that at any point in someone’s professional architectural journey, this type of exposure and experience is instrumental to a well-rounded skill set.

What is the Role at Drophouse?

The Project Designer position will typically collaborate on 2-5 projects at a time by creating design documents, and fabrication documents, communicating with architects, builders, clients, and internal fabrication and installation teams, helping source and qualify materials for fabrication, maintaining organized project documentation, and participate in on-site visits.  The role requires both competence in numerous software applications and an ability to tangibly solve sometimes complex, yet practical problems.  The role aims to place responsibility in a way that requires an eagerness to grow professionally while working alongside a group of people who love what they do.
