Job Overview
As a Project Designer at LSI, you will play a key role in our design and construction administration teams. Your work will be vital in ensuring that our projects are successfully executed from conceptual design through to the construction process. In this role, you will work closely with project managers, firm leadership, and consultants to oversee the design’s integrity during construction. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that design intent is maintained, that the construction process is efficient, and that systems are in place to ensure smooth project delivery. You will be tasked with leading the construction administration (CA) phase for multiple projects, ranging from small to large-scale endeavors, while remaining focused on process optimization, problem-solving, and maintaining high-quality outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will bring 4-6 years of experience in architecture, with direct experience in construction administration for a variety of project types. You should have a keen interest in construction administration, a drive to take on leadership responsibilities, and a commitment to learning and growing within this area of practice. A process-oriented mindset is essential, as well as the ability to create systems for efficient project execution and ensure alignment with design intent throughout the construction process.

Responsibilities
As a Project Designer at LSI, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the construction administration (CA) process, ensuring the design intent is successfully executed during construction.
  • Collaborating with project managers and consultants to ensure seamless communication between design and construction teams.
  • Overseeing the construction process, including reviewing submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and field reports to ensure the project remains on track.
  • Implementing effective systems to streamline and improve construction administration tasks, from managing schedules to ensuring adherence to project budgets.
  • Coordinating with contractors to resolve issues, address design challenges, and keep the project moving forward on time and within scope.
  • Contributing to the design efforts through collaboration, producing architectural drawings and construction detailing.
  • Ensuring design concepts are clearly communicated and consistently executed in the construction phase.
  • Analyzing codes and development parameters, translating that information into workable designs.
  • Maintaining and improving BIM and CAD templates and standards to align with project execution and client needs.
  • Engaging in continuous learning, particularly related to construction administration processes, and seeking opportunities to lead CA at the firm.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in architecture, with specific experience in construction administration for both large and small projects.
  • Professional degree in architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (experience with SketchUp, Rhino, or other design software is a plus).
  • Familiarity with multi-family and vertical mixed-use project types is desirable.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in executing commercial and residential projects, with a deep understanding of the design and construction process.
  • A process-oriented mindset, with the ability to develop systems that optimize project execution.
  • Ability to communicate design intent clearly and effectively to both internal teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and Adobe Suite.
  • A genuine eagerness to learn and continue growing as a leader in construction administration.

At LSI, we value creativity, collaboration, and the opportunity to work on projects that make a lasting impact. If you are passionate about architecture and eager to take on a leadership role in construction administration, we’d love to hear from you!
