Position Overview

ĒSO Architecture is seeking a Senior Architect / Project Architect to serve as the technical lead on projects from concept through completion. This role is intended for an experienced, licensed architect who brings strong technical judgment, coordination expertise, and the ability to translate design vision into clear, coordinated, and buildable outcomes.

Senior Architect / Project Architect team members own the integrity of the drawing set, lead consultant coordination, and directly support project delivery alongside the project manager. They can be relied upon to present technical and design solutions to

clients, support ongoing client communication, and help maintain strong relationships through consistent, high-quality delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution

• 10+ years of professional architectural experience

• Licensure required

• Demonstrated experience leading projects from design through construction

• Strong technical expertise in building systems, detailing, and constructability

• Proficiency in Archicad or related BIM platforms, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp

• Working knowledge of City of Austin codes, permitting processes, and consultant coordination

• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and deadlines

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical execution across all project phases

• Translate design intent into clear, coordinated, and buildable drawings and specifications

• Serve as the primary technical lead for consultant coordination and integration

• Maintain drawing set quality, consistency, and completeness across all project phases

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical and detailing challenges

• Work closely with the project manager to execute project plans and delivery strategies

• Directly supervise and guide the design and technical output of project teams

• Present technical and design solutions directly to clients and project stakeholders

• Lead QA/QC preparation and ensure deliverables are complete and aligned prior to leadership review

• Oversee production workflow, manage redlines, and maintain team efficiency and quality

• Mentor junior staff through direct technical guidance and real-time problem solving

• Escalate critical risks with proposed solutions

• Support ongoing client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and technical leadership

• Build trust with clients by confidently presenting solutions and ensuring alignment between expectations and delivery

Performance Expectations

• Independent leadership of technical execution with minimal oversight

• High level of drawing accuracy and coordination, with minimal QA/QC corrections required

• Effective supervision of team output, resulting in consistent quality and reduced rework

• Clear and confident presentation of technical solutions to clients and consultants

• Strong consultant coordination with minimal conflicts, RFIs, or downstream issues

• Consistent delivery of complete, buildable drawing sets aligned with design intent

• Proactive identification and resolution of issues before they impact schedule or cost

• Reliable management of production timelines and team output

• Clear, concise, and professional communication across all project stakeholders

• Active contribution to improving firm standards, details, and documentation processes

• Accurate time tracking and awareness of project budgets and resource use

• Contributes to strong client relationships through clear communication, reliability, and quality of execution
