We build upon foundational principles of holistic environmental and social wellness, and we leverage design expertise to create innovative, resilient, and inclusive environments across mixed typologies and programs.

We are focused on adaptive reuse projects (we love diamonds in the rough) and experimental construction approaches (let’s try new things) as we seek to incrementally improve resilience, equity, and cultural vitality. Current projects include retail, hospitality, office, mixed-use, and recreationally-focused programs.

Our team is tight and mighty; design-focused and community-minded; and enthusiastically collaborative. We ask a lot of questions and expect everyone to care about solving problems, from meta to miniscule.

FIRMAH is seeking a thoughtful, self-directed Project Designer (architect, licensed or unlicensed) with 3–7 years of experience to join our growing studio in Austin.

This role involves managing the day-to-day architectural design and coordination for projects with the close guidance and collaboration of leadership. The Project Designer will work across all phases of design and documentation, helping to carry projects from early concept through construction documents and coordination with clients and collaborators. You will be a core member of the FIRMAH team, pushing yourself to contribute both creatively and technically as you help cultivate our studio culture with curiosity, care, rigor, and excellent communication.

This position is full-time and primarily in-person. We value and encourage flexibility, and we work effectively. You will have the opportunity to touch and influence every aspect of our growing practice in our dynamic, small-office environment.

We are looking for a teammate who has:

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch, or equivalent)

• 3–7 years of relevant professional experience in an architecture firm

• Strong skills in architectural design and project coordination

• Proficiency with Revit and standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape, etc.)

• Ability to work through multiple phases of a project, from early design to documentation

• Fantastic communication skills, both visual and verbal

• Collaborative attitude, with the ability to work independently and in small teams

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing tasks, timelines, and information

• Interest in / respect for holistic sustainability and the social and environmental contexts of our work

It is a bonus if you have:

• Adaptive reuse experience

• Interior design experience – the coordination of interior environments with architectural concepts and building systems, including material, finish, and fixture selection
