FAZIO Architects
Project Architect / Senior Architectural Designer
Project Delivery, Design Development & Technical Execution
Austin, TX | In-Office | Full-Time
FAZIO Architects is a boutique architecture and interior design studio based in Austin, Texas. We design thoughtful, well-crafted projects that demand both design sensibility and technical rigor — and we care deeply about how ideas are carried through from concept to construction.
We are seeking a Project Architect / Senior Architectural Designer to take ownership of day-to-day project delivery, contribute meaningfully to design development, and play a hands-on role in producing clear, coordinated, and buildable drawings.
This role is ideal for an architect who enjoys turning good ideas into buildable reality, understands that design quality lives in details and coordination, and is ready to take on greater responsibility while collaborating closely with Principals and the rest of the team.
The Role
You will be responsible for running projects internally, from early design through construction documentation, and for making the many design, technical, and coordination decisions that shape the finished work.
This role is for an architect who enjoys drawing, coordinating, resolving details, and improving projects through thoughtful execution. You’ll work closely with the team to translate design intent into clear, coordinated documents and keep projects moving forward.
This is a hands-on, in-office role for someone who values accountability, clarity, and follow-through, and who understands that strong architecture is the result of hundreds of well-considered decisions made along the way.
You’ll have room to take ownership while still benefiting from regular collaboration, design dialogue, and feedback from Principals and peers.
Core Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Coordination
- Serve as the primary internal point of coordination for assigned projects with support from Principals
- Coordinate consultants (MEP, structural, civil, etc.) through DD and CD phases
- Manage schedules, deadlines, and deliverables
- Prepare meeting agendas, track action items, and follow through
- Identify issues early and propose thoughtful, practical solutions
Design Development & Refinement
- Develop architectural design through DD and CD phases in collaboration with Principals
- Make and test design decisions at the planning, detailing, and systems-integration level
- Ensure design intent is strengthened — not diluted — through documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve spatial quality, material expression, and detailing
- Assist with preparation of presentation materials and internal design reviews
Documentation, Codes & Technical Resolution
- Produce and coordinate drawings in Revit through DD and CD phases
- Maintain drawing clarity, consistency, and technical quality
- Apply building codes, zoning requirements, and life-safety principles confidently
- Resolve design and technical conflicts in coordination with consultants
- Participate in internal drawing reviews focused on coordination and completeness
Construction Phase Coordination
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation as needed
- Participate in construction-phase coordination on an as-needed basis
- Construction Administration support is part of the project lifecycle at FAZIO, but this role is intentionally focused on project delivery, documentation, and design execution
- Prior exposure to CA is helpful, but not required
Experience & Qualifications
- Typically 6–9 years of professional experience in an architecture firm
- Experience delivering technically complex projects with meaningful consultant coordination and rigorous CD production
- Strong background in Design Development and Construction Documentation
- Comfort applying building codes, zoning regulations, and life-safety concepts
- Demonstrated ability to balance design quality with technical and budgetary constraints
- High level of proficiency in Revit
- Clear, direct written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying timelines
Project-Type Experience:
Experience with commercial or other technically complex project types is strongly preferred. High-end residential experience can also be a strong fit if it involved comparable complexity, coordination, and documentation rigor.
Architectural licensure is preferred but not required.
Work Environment & Structure
- Full-time, in-office position (Austin, TX)
- Collaborative studio environment with regular Principal involvement
- Opportunity to participate in presentations and direct consultant coordination as projects require
- Competitive compensation based on experience and role scope
- Benefits include health insurance, 401k, PTO, and discretionary bonus
Why This Role at FAZIO
- Real ownership of projects and drawings
- Meaningful influence on design quality through execution
- Close collaboration with engaged Principals
- Exposure to a variety of technically interesting project types
- A supportive, low-ego studio environment with room to grow
