At Forge Craft Architecture + Design, we’re driven by a passion for envisioning solutions that make life better for people, and we’re looking for a Designer III or Job Captain who shares this vision to join our growing team of designers. As a key member of our team, you’ll establish and lead our designers, growing a staff dedicated to design and integrating with our architectural practice to create healthy, high-performance spaces.

Our company has adopted a hybrid work environment where employees split time between working from home and our newly renovated (and dog-friendly 🐶) office at Pennfield in South Austin. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This is a design focused position and will require the demonstration of prior design leadership. The person in this position will have considerable contributions the design of projects.
  • Manage individual project tasks and contribute to overall project timelines and budgets.
  • Autonomously develop creative, innovative designs and actionable solutions for assigned projects.
  • Utilize CAD and BIM software for design and documentation.
  • Prepare 3D computer models and renderings.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to codes and standards.
  • Assemble progress sets and construction documents with well-developed content in all phases of design.
  • Perform material research and selection.
  • Consistently deliver quality work within established timelines and critical paths.
  • Complete deliverables at prescribed milestones.
  • Collaborate and communicate with all design team members including architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and provide design presentations.
  • Depending on level of expertise, potentially mentor or supervise junior designers and architectural interns.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High level of design proficiency
  • 5+ years professional architectural experience.
  • Demonstration high quality design skills through built work and rendered project views.
  • Thorough grasp of architectural design principles and construction methods.
  • Confidence in problem-solving and rigor in pursuit of solutions.
  • Ability to efficiently coordinate and communicate design concepts between the Project Manager, design team and its engineers and consultants.
  • Facility in producing details across a range of industry-standard construction methods and processes.
  • Familiarity with mandatory building codes, zoning and accessibility standards with reasonable guidance.
  • Ability to multi-task between various projects while staying engaged with all.
  • Ability to align with company values while positively contributing to firm culture.
  • Active participant in the larger community outside of the office.

VALUED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Additional skill or expertise in Archicad or similar 3D BIM software; Enscape, TwinMotion or similar rendering software; experience in modular design, multifamily and/or hospitality.
  • Accreditation in recognized green building and human-health certifications such as LEED AP, NGBS / ICC 700, PHIUS, ZERH, WELL, etc.
