About the Role
The Business Development Professional reports to the Senior Vice President, Business Development in the Austin office. Responsible for leading all aspects of sales and strategic initiatives to advance business development in Central Texas (Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding areas) with both new and existing clients. Duties include client relationship management, development and execution of business development strategies, and oversight of how these efforts are planned, implemented, monitored, and reported.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with Business-oriented (Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Communications) or AEC-focused (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture) degree preferred
  • 5 to 10+ years of Business Development within the Architectural, Engineering, Construction (AEC) industry
  • Demonstrated success in executing and managing sales, marketing, client and public relations is primary
  • Significant current industry and client contacts
  • Demonstrated excellence in common software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • General knowledge of construction terminology and processes
  • Self-starter with organized and effective work habits
  • Demonstrated problem solving and training skills
  • Capable of exercising discretion and working independently to resolve problems and maintain a productive work environment
  • Ability to multi-task

Primary Duties
Client Contact

  • Meets directly with those who influence buying to obtain client and opportunity information. Documents all information in CRM
  • Formally documents win strategy and Linbeck differentiators in respect to competition and client needs
  • Tracks opportunities and informs business development and marketing team, documenting in CRM
  • Assists in client debriefing post-win and post-loss
  • Maintains client contact to verify satisfaction post-win
  • Build collateral client relationships (owner’s representative, architect, engineers, etc.) to facilitate knowledge of immediate and upcoming projects to target
  • Prepares and executes business development action plans for specific customer targets

Internal Linbeck Contact

  • Supports the client executive and team in closing the opportunity
  • Ensures attendance at pre-proposal meetings
  • Build relationships with senior Linbeck executives to discuss strategies/challenges and more effectively sell Linbeck.
  • Partners with operations teams to plan, create presentations, and execute capture plans on pursuits in addition to business partners and community organizations
  • Works hand-in-hand with the Assistant General Manager of the Central Texas office

Document Preparation/Review

  • Ensures that Linbeck differentiators are effectively presented throughout proposal documents
  • Prepares and/or supports Go/No-Go decision forms
  • Provides input in proposal development for both content and graphics
  • Participates in proposal reviews

Fee/Contracts/Legal

  • Provides intelligence to support fee strategy
  • Works with client executives to develop fee/staffing/etc
  • Participates and supports legal and contract review

Presentation Preparation

  • Leads presentation development with proposal and graphics team (marketing)
  • Ensures that Linbeck differentiation is clear throughout pursuit process
  • Leads presentation rehearsals and participates in presentations when afforded by the client

Physical Requirements
Must be physically fit enough to function safely on a project site and office setting. This includes the following:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer with repetitive movements
  • Ascends or descends ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes with agility (Climb)
  • Maintains body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations (Balance)
  • Lowers the body to floor level and move with agility (Stoop or Crawl)
  • Extends out and retrieves objects outside immediate range (Reach)

  • Maneuvers small objects precisely by whatever means (Pinch or Pick)
  • Seizes an object by applying considerable force (Grip)
  • Detects attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, texture, tension, or force by tactile means (Feel)
  • Expresses or exchanges ideas through spoken word (Speak), preferably English
  • Perceives the nature of sound with no less than a 40db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with or without correct (Hear)
  • Is subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body and or its parts
  • Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity
  • Frequently exposed to weather (occasionally extreme cold, extreme heat, wet, and/or humid, exposure to dust and fumes, and working in highly exposed places)

Additional Requirements

  • Current driver’s license, required
  • Work on-site at a main office or project location, required
  • May be called after hours and on weekends to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
  • May require travel
