The Pleasant Valley homeowners had three goals for a lot: walkability in the diverse East Austin neighborhood; affordability; and a connection to landscape.

Shifting the two-story building back created space for an enclosed courtyard in front, opened views to the landscape from inside, and buffered the noise from traffic.

The home leverages great design to meet the challenges of a busy, urban context, while being sensitive to the gentrifying neighborhood and staying connected to nature within an affordable budget.
