On May 9, the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Austin) gathered Members, Allied Members, community leaders, and architecture enthusiasts at Fair Market to celebrate stellar design and those leading the charge to improve Austin’s built environment. Just three weeks prior, four esteemed jurors — Allison Williams, FAIA; Aric Lasher, FAIA; Julie Smith-Clementi, AIA; and Kevin Kudo-King, AIA — spent the weekend in Austin deliberating over 128 submissions. With much thoughtful debate, the jurors narrowed the submissions to 13 Design Awards of Merit and five Awards of Excellence recipients. Two projects received Sustainability Commendations as well. The award-winning projects were located in Austin, Houston, Dallas, New Mexico, and Mexico.
The celebration began with a very special song that you can watch right here. A photo album of the many memorable parts of the evening can be seen here. Thanks to Atelier Wong Photography for documenting this great event, and to all of our sponsors for their support! Videos for each Design Award winner can be viewed here.
