Are you a skilled architect with a passion for designing complex projects and driving collaborative success? TxDOT’s Support Services Division is seeking an Architect II to join our Facilities Planning & Management team. In this role, you’ll lead the design and execution of TxDOT buildings and structures, working independently and guiding design teams through all phases of architectural projects. You’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and TxDOT policies. This position also emphasizes sustainable design strategies, along with issue resolution all while maintaining clear communication and accountability across all phases of development.

Work location: The selected candidate’s work location may be Headquartered in Austin or any of the following 25 TxDOT District offices located in Abilene, Amarillo, Atlanta, Austin, Beaumont, Brownwood, Bryan, Corpus Christi, Childress, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Laredo, Lubbock, Lufkin, Odessa, Paris, Pharr, San Angelo, San Antonio, Tyler, Waco, Wichita Falls, and Yoakum.

Minimum Salary: 90,000.00  Maximum Salary: 110,000.00

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.

Experience: 5 years of experience in architecture-related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
  • Must be registered as an Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
